"আগমনী" – A Tribute to Mahishasura Mardini by Birendra Krishna Bhadra | Budget Smartphone Creation
My first video project was titled "আগমনী". I released the video on October 6, 2018 on my YouTube channel, just a few days before Mahalaya. I tried to capture the feeling of Puja's arrival and the spirit of Mahalaya mornings through the background music, creating a sense of anticipation and devotion. The idea came from the thought of merging two creative forms — painting and filming — into a single expressive piece.
In the video, I painted the face of a Durga idol on a canvas while filming the process. The video was accompanied by background music that reflected the spirit of Durga Puja and Mahalaya, evoking a sense of anticipation and devotion. It was a collaborative effort with my friends, shot using a budget smartphone.
This project was my first attempt at exploring videography and filming techniques. Despite the limitations in equipment and experience, the outcome felt deeply personal and meaningful. It marked the beginning of my journey into filming and sparked a lasting interest in exploring visual storytelling. The experience taught me the power of combining different art forms and gave me the confidence to explore more creative possibilities in the future.
